**The 2016 Eagle Marathon Final Mile is only open to current students of Lorene Rogers Middle School**
The Eagle Marathon is a program designed to challenge 5th and 6th grade students at Lorene Rogers Middle School to complete a marathon over the course of the school year.
Working with their PE coaches, the students will run 25.2 miles in class, logging their miles over the course of the school year. On March 19th, the students can complete their last mile of the marathon, which will be ran during the Fun Run portion of the Prosper Eagle 5K. When the students cross the finish line, they will have completed a full marathon! Students will receive a commemorative t-shirt as well as a medal for this monumental achievement!
Why run a marathon in this fashion?
It’s a way for our students to understand that while a 26.2 mile race is a daunting task, breaking it down into smaller increments allows for the realization of a seemingly impossible goal for most of us! Completing the Eagle Marathon will help build character and resolve in our students, something we hope to develop within each of them that can be used throughout their lives well beyond the walls of Rogers.
